The Deputy Director and Head of Enforcement, Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, Mr. Stephen Esumobi, on Friday said the council had stormed 306 pharmacies and patent medicine shops in Kwara State.
He stated that at the end of the enforcement, the council sealed 242 of the drug outlets for offences, ranging from dispensing poisons without the supervision of a pharmacist, poor storage conditions and selling medicines above the approved list for patent medicine vendors, among others.
Speaking during a press conference in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Esumobi said the outlets comprised 14 pharmacies and 228 patent medicine shops.
He added that 11 others were issued compliance directives for offences such as poor documentation and untidy environments.
Meanwhile, members of the Nigerian Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers have protested what they called malicious and mischievous raids allegedly by PCN.
Kwara State President, MAPPMED, Alhaji Wahab Ajibola, said the association was a legally recognised one.
