I'd Rather 'Slash My Wrists' Than Do Another James Bond Movie

LONDON, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Daniel Craig says he is done playing James Bond after Spectre.

The 47-year-old English actor discussed his future with the film franchise in an interviewwith Time Out published Wednesday. Craig will make his fourth appearance as 007 in the forthcoming movie, and told the magazine he can't imagine doing another installment.

"I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists," he said. "No, not at the moment. Not at all. That's fine. I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on."

"I haven't given [the future] any thought," he qualified. "For at least a year or two, I just don't want to think about it. I don't know what the next step is ... At the moment, we've done it. I'm not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money."

Craig first portrayed Bond in Casino Royale(2006), and went on to star in Quantum of Solace (2008) and Skyfall (2012). Idris Elba, Damian Lewis and Tom Hardy are rumored to replace Craig, but the actor told the publication he doesn't care who takes over.

"Look, I don't give a [expletive]," he said. "Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we've left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that's all."

"Don't be [expletive]," he offered as advice for his successor. "You've got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don't be [expletive] ... Just make sure you're great. You've got to push yourself as far as you can. It's worth it, it's James Bond."

Spectre opens in theaters Nov. 6, and co-starsChristoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux. Prior to James Bond, Craig was known for such films as I Dreamed of Africawith Kim Basinger, Road to Perdition with Tom Hanks and Sylvia with Gwyneth Paltrow.
